Hello Readers, welcome back to my blog.

“You terrified everyone.” Her own pulse was in her mouth, her blood thunder in her ears.
“Humans need to be terrified every so often. It keeps them from crossing lines that shouldn’t be crossed.”
“You ever think maybe archangels should be challenged once in a while?” She countered. “That it’d take care of the whole arrogance issue?“
“Anyone may challenge me.”
When he executed a turn toward the Hudson, Elena followed, the river winds riffling through the strands of hair that had escaped her braid. “How can people challenge you when they’re so afraid?“
“It didn’t stop you.”
Well, he did have her there. But – “I’ve always had a dash of crazy in me.“
This is the sixth book of the Guild Hunter series published in 2013.
This book is about the continuation of Elena and Raphael’s story, the progression of their relationship as well Elena’s growth into her immortality and her role as Consort. With the return of Raphael’s mother we get more glimpses into Raphael’s childhood which makes him more human than his relationship with Elena portrayed him.
Things previously thought impossible start occurring like the fallen of angels from the sky, immortal vampires becoming vulnerable to disease and dying. New York is under attack but who is the enemy? Elena and Raphael have to evaluate which Archangels they can form alliances with, Elijah and Hannah seems to be the obvious choice.
Caliane is having a ball (and boy does Elena hates balls), she has said previously that she would rather gauge out her eyes than attend one after the mishap of Lijuan’s previous ball that destroyed Beijing but this is one ball that she cannot miss because the host is her mother-in-law.
An old lover of Raphael, Tasha pops up and she is not subtle about wanting to become his lover again (I hope to find out how Tasha will realize that going after Raphael is ludicrous, that would be an amazing scene to read).
An Archangel war has been looming in the horizon since the beginning of the series and while there have been a few skirmishes, there hasn’t been an all out war until this book. The battle scenes were exquisitely exhilarating, as soon as I started reading those scenes I couldn’t put the book down.
I look forward to Raphael’s evolution into power, what will he gain or lose?
