Book Review: KISS OF SNOW by NALINI SINGH

Hello Readers, welcome back to my blog.

We are back in the psy-changeling world with the tenth book in the series. Birthday month readings are so awesome and I love that this is the story I start my birthday month on because it is one of my favourite stories in the entire series. If I hadn’t mentioned it previously, this series is a reread for me but I had only gotten up to this story in the series before I stopped. I remember anticipating this story so much because I had seen the progress in the previous stories.

SUMMARY

Since the moment of her defection from the Psynet and into the SnowDancer wolf pack, Sienna Lauren has had one weakness, Hawke. A dangerous alpha, the response he draws from her could almost compel her to madness.

Hawke is used to walking alone, having lost the woman who would’ve been his mate. But Sienna fascinates the primal heart of him, even as he tells himself she is far too young to handle the wild fury of the wolf.

Then Sienna changes the rules and, suddenly, there is no more distance, only the most intimate of battles between two people who were never meant to meet. Yet as they strip away each other’s secrets in a storm of raw emotion, they must also ready themselves for a far more vicious fight.

A deadly enemy is out to destroy the SnowDancer pack, striking at everything they hold dear, but it is Sienna’s darkest secret that may yet savage the pack that is her home . . . and the alpha who is its heartbeat . . .

We are finally at Hawke and Sienna’s story after seeing the progress of their story from the first book of the series. Hawke is the alpha of the SnowDancer wolf pack and Sienna is an X Psy that was offered sanctuary by the wolves when her family defected from the Psynet. Their relationship has taken years to develop mostly because Sienna was too young when she first met Hawke and because Hawke has already lost the woman who would have gown to be his mate at a young age.

Hawke and Sienna have always had an explosive attraction to each other which led them to antagonise each other at a time when they were not ready to progress their relationship. In this story, Hawke’s wolf pushes him to claim intimate skin privileges with Sienna even though he will not mate with her. What happens when Sienna demands more from him than the wolf alpha is willing to give? What will happen to this budding relationship? Meanwhile, the conflict between the Psy council and the changelings has brewed to war. They are no longer willing to tolerate each other, so the conflict grows dangerously high with lives at stake on each side.

One thing I love about series is that the world and the characters are continuously evolving so there is no need for the author to put everything into one story. Although each story is unique and shows a different perspective, you also learn more about the world they live in and the characters around them. This is something that Nalini does very well in the series that she writes. The story between Hawke and Sienna has been anticipated since the first book of the series and Nalini did not disappoint in the delivery of the story.

This was easily a five star read. The book flowed effortlessly, the descriptions were precise and it made imagining the environment and tension easy. I recommend this to those who love action, war and tension with a healthy dose of sexual tension from more than one pair of characters.
