Let’s get on with my tour for today which is a review on the book.

Mysterious. Hidden. Sacred. Erabel is the beating heart of Dorcha Wood. And its heir has come home.

Fleeing the man who betrayed her, Fiadh returns to her beloved forest, into its heart, to discover her people. And herself. With the aid of Caelan, an Aos Sí warrior, she explores her birthright, a world safeguarded from the corruption of mankind. There, she learns the history of a mighty race and the vastness of the power coursing through her blood.

But beyond Erabel’s boundaries, men are flocking, rallying to an evil lord who covets the strength flowing in Fiadh’s veins. They have their eyes fixed on the lost kingdom of the Aos Sí, and it’s only a matter of time before they breach those borders and come for Fiadh and all who protect her.

All around her, the world is closing in, as some plot in shadows, and others in the stark light of day.

Fiadh has suffered two devastating blows in short succession; the murder of her mother and the betrayal of the man she loves. She flees deeper into the Dorcha woods on the back of a cu-sith (a creature rumoured to be in fairytales only). The creature tells her that a land of Great Power awaits her and that all she is will be revealed to her when she arrives. On the way, she meets a lot of creatures that she has heard fairytales about and feels an awakening in herself that she doesn’t really understand.

Meanwhile, the land of man is being decimated fiefdom by fiefdom. Gideon is always too late to the rescue and from the aftermath it looks like Elves are attacking various castles, killing women and children alike. Gideon has sworn vengeance for the death of his people and family but he needs allies. The Lord he goes to for help has ambitions of his own which are not for the progression of mankind. Will Gideon be pulled into a feud he has no business with? Will Elves and mankind destroy each other before they realise that they are being manipulated by a third party?

This is book 2 of the daughter of Erabel series but you can pick it up and follow without reading the first book. I loved how easy it was to follow this second book and how well explained the events leading up to the current situation of the story was. If you are a reader that loves things explained and mysteries unravelled for you, you’ll love the flow of the story. I didn’t feel that there were unnecessary scenes either and for the length of the book, I feel that the author did a good job progressing the plot of the story with a lot of quality content to the story.

I gave 4 out of 5 stars because there isn’t a dull moment in the story, there is always something happening to progress the story or explain the past. Fiadh as the chosen one is not a one dimensional character and she is still growing which makes her endearing. She is a young woman with a lot of innocence which can make readers love her or dislike her. I really enjoyed the story and look forward to the third book.
